The route goes via the Pune-Nashik highway (NH60), exiting at Manchar to climb up the scenic, winding ghat roads of the Sahyadri range. The journey covers approximately 110 km and takes around 3.5 hours. Apart from the historic temple, Bhimashankar is a declared wildlife sanctuary, famous for the Indian Giant Squirrel (Shekru). Monsoons bring beautiful waterfalls along the hills, making the drive highly scenic.
